Accenture lands CalPERS contract

NEW YORK, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The California Public Employees' Retirement System has hired Accenture Ltd. to modernize its computer systems.

The 5-year, $199 million contract envisions the pension system "moving to a Web-based delivery approach built on an integrated, flexible, service-oriented architecture," Accenture said Monday in a statement.

The pension system is the largest public pension fund in the United States with more than $210 billion in assets. CalPERS, as the pension system is known, provides retirement and healthcare benefits to more than 1.4 million public employees, retirees and their families, plus more than 2,500 employers.
