Hyundai chairman summoned in scandal probe

SEOUL, April 21 (UPI) -- The chairman of South Korea's Hyundai Automotive Group has been summoned to appear before prosecutors for questioning.

Chung Mong-koo was ordered to appear Monday at a meeting with authorities investigating an alleged slush fund scandal at the nation's biggest carmaker, the Korea Times reported Friday.

Chung "will face questioning about how he was involved in raising tens of billions of won in secret funds and lobbying politicians and government officials for business favors," a prosecutors' spokesman said.
