NEW YORK, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Three U.S. Federal Reserve presidents are warning publicly about the threat of inflation in the United States.
Richard Fisher, the president of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank, said inflation is at the upper range of the central bank's comfort zone and is beginning to seem stubborn, MarketWatch reported Wednesday.
Also on Tuesday, Anthony Santomero, the president of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank, said the central bank will have to keep moving interest rates higher to keep these temporary prices increases from sticking.
And in the third such speech Tuesday, the president of the St. Louis Fed said the central bank would respond to any upward inflation surprise.
"I have no doubt that both the (Federal Open Market Committee) and the market would respond to surprises in core inflation that seemed likely to be persistent and to indicate a developing inflation problem," said William Poole.
