NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- Lawyers for the former chief of the American Insurance Group said Monday Maurice Greenberg will not answer any questions about alleged accounting problems.
Greenberg will be appearing before the Securities and Exchange Commission and New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer for his role, if any, in improper accounting practices at the world's biggest insurance company.
Greenberg will reportedly invoke the Fifth Amendment to maintain his silence.
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett appeared Monday before the same regulators to tell them he did not know details of a transaction between General Re and AIG. General Re is a reinsurance group that is held by Buffett's company, Berkshire Hathaway.
