Celebrity cancels a Caribbean cruise

MIAMI, March 12 (UPI) -- Celebrity Cruises has canceled a March 28 Millennium cruise to the Caribbean and swapped itineraries with its sister ship Infinity, which needs repairs.

Millennium will sail on two Panama Canal cruises, March 28 and April 11, previously scheduled for Infinity. Infinity will head to dry dock for replacement of thrust-bearing units in its propulsion system.

Once repairs are completed, Infinity will adopt Millennium's itineraries for three Caribbean cruises, April 4, 11 and 18. The ships will return to their original itineraries April 25.

Passengers booked on Millennium's canceled March 28 eastern Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Casa de Campo, San Juan, St. Thomas and Nassau, will receive a full refund and a voucher for a free Celebrity cruise to the Caribbean of seven days or less.

"The cancellation of a cruise always has an undesirable impact on our guests," said Jack Williams, Celebrity Cruises president and CEO. Williams said swapping itineraries of the two ships caused the least disruption.
