Fed keeps rates pat; sees risks balanced

WASHINGTON, May 7 (UPI) -- The Federal Reserve said Tuesday it will keep short-term interest rates unchanged, adding the risks of inflation and economic growth were both in balance.

Policy makers of the Federal Open Market Committee voted unanimously to keep the key federal funds target rate unchanged at 1.75 percent, marking the third consecutive meeting the FOMC decided to keep monetary policy remained steady.
