Boy, 15, shot to death near Obama's Chicago home

CHICAGO, April 23 (UPI) -- A boy, 15, was shot to death while awaiting his parents to pick him up at a friend's house, four blocks from President Barack Obama's Chicago home, police said.

Cornelius "Cornbread" German was struck in the back by bullets in the backyard of a friend Monday evening, the Chicago Tribune reported.

His mother, Timika Rutledge, said she and the boy's father were to meet him at a local drugstore, but he changed his location, telling her by cellphone he would not "stand at the bus stop because there would be shooting," a reference to gang fighting in the area.

Police said they had no description of the shooter, and no arrests were made Tuesday.
