Suzy Favor Hamilton pulled from NCAA award after prostitution

The Big Ten has removed Olympic runner Suzy Favor Hamilton's name from its annual Athlete of the Year list after the revelation last year that she had worked as a $600-an-hour call girl in Las Vegas.

Favor Hamilton, who won several national titles but never an Olympic medal, was named Female Athlete of the Year three years in a row, from 1988 to 1990. The award was named for her -- the Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Award -- but the Big Ten and University of Wisconsin officials have decided to remove her name.

The 44-year-old had spokeswoman deals with Nike and Disney and worked as a motivational speaker until her double life came crashing down around her in December.

An explosive article in The Smoking Gun revealed the track star had been using the alias "Kelly Lundy" and had worked in Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston for a the high-end service Haley Heston's Private Collection.

While Favor Hamilton's Haley Heston's profile had put an emphasis on discretion, even going so far as to blur out her face on numerous photos showing her in provocative poses, she apparently revealed her identity to several clients.

"I take full responsibility for my mistakes," Favor Hamilton said at the time, saying the work was an "exciting" escape from a routine lifestyle, operating a real estate brokerage with her husband in Madison, Wisc. "I'm not the victim and I'm not going that route."

Favor Hamilton said her husband, Mark, was aware of her activities and "he tried, he tried to get me to stop."

"He wasn't supportive of this at all," she said.

Favor Hamilton competed in three Olympics, in 1992, 1996 and 2000.
