Bard buys Onux Medical

MURRAY HILL, N.J., July 1 (UPI) -- C.R. Bard of Murray Hill, N.J., said Thursday it has acquired the assets of Onux Medical located in Hampton, N.H..

Financial terms of deal were not disclosed.

C.R. Bard is a multinational developer, manufacturer, and marketer of medical technologies in the fields of vascular, urology, oncology, and surgical specialty products.

Onux Medical manufacturers the salute surgical fixation system. The system is used to grip prosthetic mesh in place during laparoscopic hernia repair procedures.

There are approximately 350,000 laparoscopic hernia repair procedures performed annually around the world and Bard said the current global market for hernia fixation devices is estimated at $100 million, growing at a double-digit rate. Bard is the leader in the prosthetic mesh market for hernia repairs.

Bard's Davol subsidiary, located in Cranston, R.I., will market the product.
