Stunt actors honor 'Pirates'

LOS ANGELES, May 17 (UPI) -- The World Stunt Academy has selected a scene from "Pirates of the Caribbean" as last year's best film fight, the BBC reported Monday.

Tony Angelotti and Mark Wagner won the World Stunt Awards prize in Los Angeles Sunday after standing in for actors Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom during the film's acrobatic sword fight, the British news agency said.

Keanu Reeves won the honor for best action movie star for his work on the "Matrix" trilogy.

A high-speed boat chase through the canals of Venice in the 2003 remake of "The Italian Job" won the best specialty stunt prize, while a battle scene from "The Last Samurai" was declared the best fire stunt.

The Will Smith movie "Bad Boys 2" won two awards for a vehicle scene and its stunt coordinators Andy Gill, Steve Picerni and Spiro Razatos, the BBC said.

Debbie Evans was honored as best stuntwoman for her work in "Matrix Reloaded," while stuntmen Paul Eliopolus, J.J. Perry, Tanoai Reed and Marko Zaror shared the male stunt of the year prize for "The Rundown."
