ST. PAUL, Minn., July 3 -- The Minnesota Wild added some toughness Wednesday, signing free agent center Bill Muckalt to a multi-year contract.
Muckalt, 27, spent last season with the Ottawa Senators.
A gritty winger who should fit the Wild's defensive-oriented style, he had eight assists and 46 penalty minutes in 70 games in his lone season in Ottawa.
"Bill fits the type of team we have become: hard-working, ability to play both ends of the rink, physically involved and willing to pay the price," Wild general manager Doug Risebrough said. "We believe that he will have the ability to develop more as a player with the Minnesota Wild."
Muckalt, who also has played with Vancouver and the New York Islanders, has 35 goals and 54 assists in 248 NHL games. |end| Content: 15031000 15031001
