Lehigh names Billy Taylor basketball coach

BETHLEHEM, Pa., April 16 -- Former Notre Dame and North Carolina-Greensboro assistant Billy Taylor was named men's basketball coach at Lehigh on Tuesday.

Taylor was the top assistant under former Lehigh coach Fran McCaffrey at North Carolina-Greensboro for the last four seasons.

This past season, the Spartans finished with a 20-10 record, winning the Southern Conference Northern Division and receiving a bid to the National Invitation Tournament.

Before his tenure at North Carolina-Greensboro, Taylor served as an assistant under John MacLeod at Notre Dame. Taylor coordinated opponent scouting reports, game preparations and preseason and postseason skill development sessions for the Fighting Irish.

Taylor earned his bachelor's degree in 1995 at Notre Dame where he played all four years and started 79 of 112 games. He finished with 577 points and 300 rebounds.
