SAN JOSE, Calif., March 8 -- Teemu Selanne's 400th career goal fueled a big second period as the San Jose Sharks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators Thursday night.

With the Sharks trailing 1-0 just 92 seconds into the second, Selanne stole the puck in the left faceoff circle and beat goaltender Patrick Lalime for his 21st goal of the season.

He became the 69th player in NHL history to reach the 400 mark.

Matt Bradley put San Jose ahead for good with 9:15 left in the period. Marco Sturm took a slap shot from the left circle that Lalime stopped, but Bradley got to the rebound and tipped it into the net for his seventh goal and first since Feb.6.

After rookie defenseman Jeff Jillson made it 3-1 with just under seven minutes remaining, Adam Graves scored shorthanded to give the Sharks a three-goal cushion with 4:15 left. Graves moved into the left circle and put a slap shot over Lalime's left shoulder for his 12th of the season.

Sturm capped the period with his 16th goal, tying a career high with 3 1/2 minutes to play as San Jose came within one of the most productive period of the season.

The five goals were the most allowed in a period by Senators this season, one more than they yielded against Pittsburgh on Oct.16.NEWLN: Content: 15031000 15031001
