Chicago Cubs -- Signed pitcher Alan Benes, who had been with the
St. Louis Cardinals, to a minor league contract and invited him
to spring training.
Detroit Tigers -- Re-signed pitcher Danny Patterson, who was
eligible for arbitration, to a three-year contract; Re-signed
infielder-outfielder Robert Fick, who was eligible for
arbitration, to a one-year contract.
Milwaukee Brewers -- Signed second baseman Eric Young, who had
been with the Chicago Cubs, to a two-year contract.
New York Mets -- Signed pitcher Pedro Astacio, who had been with
