TOKYO, Sept. 22 -- Third seed Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia ousted No. 1 Kim Clijsters of Belgium on Saturday at the Princess Cup to advance to her second straight final.
Dokic posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Clijsters, the French Open finalist.
Last week, she appeared in the final at the Brazil Open, where she lost to Monica Seles.The 18-year-old Dokic captured her first career title at the Italian Open in May, defeating then-No. 6 Amelie Mauresmo in the final.
She improved to 2-2 lifetime against Clijsters with her win Saturday and has not dropped a set this week.
The Yugoslavian teen will play veteran Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario of Spain in Sunday's final. The fifth-seeded Spaniard downed countrywoman Gala Leon Garcia, 6-3, 7-5, in the other semifinal.
Sanchez-Vicario, who won this event in 1994, reached her third final of the year. She was victorious in her previous two championship matches, winning the Porto Open in April and the Madrid Open in May. This is Sanchez-Vicario's fifth trip to the final here. She is 3-2 lifetime against Dokic, but has lost the last two meetings.
