The 7-foot, 245-pound Rogers spent the previous two seasons with the Houston Rockets.

In 39 games during the 2000-01 campaign, he averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds while blocking 18 shots.

"We're very happy to have Carlos as part of our team," Pacers president Donnie Walsh said. "He's a terrific talent who hasn't had the opportunity the last few years to show his game. We think he fits very well with our team and will complement the players we have with his defensive and shot-blocking capabilities."

Rogers was originally the 11th overall pick in the 1994 draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, but was traded in a summer deal to Golden State, where he averaged 8.9 points and 5.7 rebounds in his rookie year for the Warriors.

He has also played in Toronto and Portland and owns career averages of 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.

"I'm ecstatic," Rogers said. "That word fits me best right now. Donnie Walsh and (Coach) Isiah Thomas told me I have a great opportunity here and that's all I want is an opportunity. I plan to take advantage of it."
