Anaheim Angels -- Exercised the option on manager Mike
Scioscia's contract for the 2002 season and extended the
contract through 2005 with an option for the 2006 season.
Boston Red Sox -- Announced the retirement of pitcher Hipolito
Pichardo; recalled pitcher Todd Erdos from Pawtucket of the
International League (AAA).
Chicago Cubs -- Optioned pitcher Will Ohman to Iowa of the
Pacific Coast League (AAA); recalled pitcher Carlos Zambrano
from Iowa.
Milwaukee Brewers -- Optioned pitcher Allen Levrault to
Indianapolis of the International League (AAA); recalled pitcher
Rocky Coppinger from Indianapolis; transferred pitcher Paul
Rigdon from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list.
Minnesota Twins -- Activated pitcher Brad Radke from the 15-day
disabled list; optioned pitcher Adam Johnson to Edmonton of the

Seattle Mariners -- Signed shortstop Michael Garciaparra.
Texas Rangers -- Transferred outfielder Rusty Greer from the

Acquired infielder Jason Hill from the St. Paul Saints for
catcher-outfielder George Arnott and shortstop Bob Spangler;

Atlanta Falcons -- Waived center-guard Calvin Collins, punter
Matt Allen and defensive end Dave Zuiderveen.
Minnesota Vikings. Released the following players: defensive
end Antwone Young, defensive tackle Tim Engelhart, linebacker
Gabe Northern, guard Oscar Comeaux and center Mitch Palmer.
St. Louis Rams -- Reached agreement with free agent defensive
end Chidi Ahanotu, who had been with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
on a one-year contract.
Washington Redskins -- Signed guard Dave Szott to a one-year
contract; waived offensive lineman Jason Schwab.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) -- Signed defensive back Byron
Capers.

conditional first-round pick in the 2003 draft from the
Philadelphia Flyers for left wing Jan Hlavac, defenseman Kim
Johnsson, right wing Pavel Brendl and a third-round pick in the
2003 draft.
Phoenix Coyotes -- Re-signed center Trevor Letowski to a
one-year contract with a club option.
