The 6-10 Bullard played the last five seasons with the Houston Rockets, averaging 5.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the floor during the past campaign. He has shot over 40 percent from three-point range three times in his career.

"Matt is a proven veteran player and will be a great addition to our team," said Hornets Vice President of Basketball Operations Bob Bass. "He's established himself as one of the better three-point shooters in the league and he's been very effective at spreading the defense in the fourth quarter with Houston."

Bullard has spent nine of his 10 professional seasons with the Rockets, including the 1993-94 championship campaign. He ranks second on the franchise's all-time list in three-pointers made and attempted, and holds a career three-point percentage of 38.7 (583-of-1,504).

"I'm looking forward to having a guy like Matt fitting in with the team," said Hornets Coach Paul Silas. "He will defend and rebound and his shooting is an added bonus."
