Cavaliers sign Bryant Stith

CLEVELAND, Aug. 13 -- Free agent guard Bryant Stith, who has a career scoring average of 10.5 points per game over nine NBA seasons, on Monday signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The 6-5 Stith spent last season with the Boston Celtics, averaging 9.7 points in 78 games, including 74 starts.

He netted a season-high 29 points against the Washington Wizards on November 15.

Stith was the 13th overall pick in the 1992 draft by the Denver Nuggets and he spent the first eight seasons of his career in the Midwest, including two years with new Cavaliers coach and former Denver assistant John Lucas. In October 2000, the Nuggets shipped Stith to the Celtics for Calbert Cheaney and Robert Pack.

Stith played in all 82 games for the Nuggets during the 1995-96 campaign and averaged 13.6 points and 4.9 rebounds. He increased his average to a career-best 14.9 in 1996-97.
