Maple Leafs sign Chris Murray

TORONTO, Aug. 7 -- Right wing Chris Murray, a veteran who did not play in the NHL last season, signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

The 6-2, 209-pound Murray spent the 2000-01 season with Worcester of the American Hockey League, amassing nine goals and eight assists in 17 games before suffering an injury.

Murray, 26, has 16 goals, 18 assists and 550 penalty minutes in 242 career NHL games. He has played for Montreal, Hartford/Carolina, Ottawa, Chicago and most recently Dallas in the 1999-2000 season.
