Cincinnati Reds -- Named Jose Cardenal special consultant to the
general manager and farm director.
Colorado Rockies -- Activated pitcher John Thomson from the
15-day disabled list; placed catcher Ben Petrick on the 15-day
disabled list with tendinitis of the right arm.
New York Yankees -- Activated outfielder David Justice from the
15-day disabled list; placed third baseman Scott Brosius on the
15-day disabled list with a hairline fracture of his left ring
finger.
Pittsburgh Pirates -- Placed outfielder Armando Rios on the
15-day disabled list with a torn left ACL; recalled infielder
Alex Hernandez from Nashville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
San Diego Padres -- Acquired outfielder Ray Lankford from the
St. Louis Cardinals for pitcher Woody Williams and cash;
recalled pitcher Junior Herndon from Portland of the Pacific
Coast League (AAA); exercised the 2002 contract option of
pitcher Bobby Jones and added a 2003 club option.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays -- Activated pitcher Juan Guzman from the
60-day disabled list and optioned him to Durham of the
International League (AAA).
Toronto Blue Jays -- Signed pitcher Paul Quantrill to a
three-year contract extension thrugh the 2004 season;
Indianapolis Indians (International League/AAA) -- Signed
outfielder Chris Jones to a free agent contract.

first-round pick, to a three-year contract.
Minnesota Timberwolves -- Re-signed guard Felipe Lopez to a
multi-year contract.

who had been with the New Jersey Nets, and guard Charles Smith.
Toronto Raptors -- Acquired center Hakeem Olajuwon from the
Houston Rockets for 2001 first- and second-round picks.
