Mighty Ducks sign Drew Bannister

ANAHEIM, July 27 -- The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim agreed to a one-year contract Friday with defenseman Drew Bannister, who spent most of last season in the American Hockey League.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bannister, 26, recorded nine goals and 30 assists in 73 games last season for the Hartford Wolfpack, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers. He played in just three games for the Rangers, going scoreless.

Bannister is beginning his second stint with Anaheim, recording six assists in 27 contests for the Mighty Ducks in 1997-98. He also has played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Edmonton Oilers.

Bannister has registered five goals and 25 assists in 163 career games since debuting in the NHL in 1995.
