president and general manager; placed outfielder Derek Bell on
the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring;
recalled outfielder Tike Redman from Nashville of the Pacific
Coast League (AAA).
St. Louis Cardinals -- Placed pitcher Mike James on the 15-day
disabled list, retroactive to July 7, with right rotator cuff
inflammation; recalled pitcher Bud Smith from Memphis of the
