Coulthard wins FI Austrian Grand Prix

SPIELBERG, Austria, May 13 -- David Coulthard of Scotland made the Formula One season a two-driver race with Michael Schumacher by winning Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix.

Coulthard accumulated 38 points with his second victory of the year and is just four behind Schumacher who finished second thanks to Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello, who allowed Schumacher to pass him on the last lap (71st).

Barrichello finished third and is also third in the Drivers' championship with 18 points, essentially out of any realistic chance to compete for the world title.

Coulthard's win was even more impressive after starting seventh next to McLaren Mercedes teammate Mika Hakkinen, who had another disappointing race when his car stalled on the grid.

Coulthard is the only racer to finish in the points in all six grand prixs this year. He had finished second here the last four years.

First-year driver Kimi Raikkonen of Finland finished fourth to score his fourth point for Sauber Petronas. Frenchman Olivier Panis was fifth for BAR, followed by Jos Verstappen of the Netherlands for his first point of the year in a Arrows AsiaTech.

With just four points in six grand prixs, Hakkinen can all but be counted out of any hopes to catch up and challenge Schumacher and Coulthard. His role for the remainder of the season will likely be to help Coulthard win the title.
