Hajj stampede victims buried

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 15 -- Saudi Arabia said Thursday that more than 35 Muslim pilgrims killed in a stampede earlier this month have been buried.

The pilgrims werekilled during the annual Hajj.

A government spokesman said the pilgrims were buried after the last two bodies were identified on Wednesday.

The official Saudi news agency said the victims were from 12 countries -- the majority of them were Pakistani. The others were Turks, Egyptians, Indians, Sri Lankans, Indonesians, Afghans, Bangladeshis, an Algerian, a Sudanese an Ethiopian and a Frenchman. There was also one Palestinian among the victims.

The youngest victim, a woman from Bangladesh, was 38 years old, while the oldest was an Ethiopian man aged 75, a list of names announced by the government Thursday said.

The pilgrims died on March 5 in Mena during the stoning of the devil ceremony. Authorities said most of them died during in a stampede.
