Carolina is tied with the Boston Bruins for the eighth playoff with 65 points and the acquisition of Pellerin could boost its offense down the stretch.

Pellerin led the Wild in scoring with 11 goals and 28 assists in 58 games. He had a plus-6 rating and 45 penalty minutes.

Pellerin played four years with St. Louis, posting a career-best 41 points in 80 games in the 1998-99 season, before being selected by the Wild in the 2000 expansion draft.

Rakhmatullin was selected by the Hartford Whalers in the ninth round of the 1996 draft. He has played four of the last five seasons for his hometown Salavat Yulayev club in Russia. The 22-year-old had 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 37 games this season.
