Maple Leafs get Galanov from Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 20 -- The Toronto Maple Leafs, in search of help along the blue line, acquired defenseman Maxim Galanov from the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday for left wing Konstantin Kalmikov.

Galanov appeared in 25 games for the Lightning this season after being claimed off waivers from Florida on November 3, recording five assists and eight penalty minutes.

The struggling Leafs, who are winless in six games (0-3-3), are reportedly on the verge of acquiring Eric Lindros from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Kalmikov, 22, has played in 47 games for St. John's of the American Hockey League this season, collecting seven goals and 10 assists. He was selected with the 68th overall pick in the 1996 draft by Toronto.NEWLN:
