Samsonov is All-Star sub for Jagr

DENVER, Feb. 2 -- Jaromir Jagr, the NHL scoring champion each of the last three years, will not be a part of the festivities this year. He suffered a concussion in Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia and has been scratched from the World All-Star Team.

Boston Bruins left wing Sergei Samsonov was named Friday to replace Jagr, who had been chosen as a starting right wing.

Jagr experienced dizziness Wednesday after he was checked by Philadelphia rookie Todd Fedoruk in the first period of the Penguins' 5-1 loss to the Flyers. The injury was later diagnosed as a mild concussion.

The 22-year-old Samsonov, a native of Russia, will be making his first All-Star appearance. He has 21 goals and 27 assists in 53 games this season.

He joins teammates Jason Allison and Bill Guerin, both members of the North American Team, in Sunday's game at The Pepsi Center in Denver, the home arena of the Colorado Avalanche.
