Vancouver 6, San Jose 3

SAN JOSE, Dec. 30 -- Todd Bertuzzi scored three power-play goals for his first career hat trick Saturday night as the Vancouver Canucks beat up Evgeni Nabokov and the San Jose Sharks, 6-3.

One night after suffering a 5-0 pounding in Calgary, Vancouver snapped a four-game road losing streak with Bertuzzi leading the way.

He opened the scoring in the first period and capped it in the third with the final two goals of the game. Bertuzzi has seven career two-goal games.

The Canucks finished the night three for nine on the power play, going two for five in the third period. The Sharks closed within a goal in the third, but lost their discipline.

After an even first period, Vancouver dominated the second, scoring three straight goals and holding a 19-2 advantage in shots.

But San Jose rallied as Owen Nolan scored a pair of goals with the man advantage to get his team within 4-3 with 16:25 left.

The Sharks outshot the Canucks, 20-8, in the third, but could not get out of a hole partly created by Nabokov, who surrendered six goals on 34 shots.

The NHL's top rookie, Nabokov entered with a league-leading 20 wins. He also was third with a 1.82 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.

The Sharks fell to 1-3-1 in their last five games, but remained four points ahead of second-place Dallas in the Pacific Division.
