SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 31 -- Jarron Collins scored 25 points and Casey Jacobsen added 20 Saturday night to lead second-ranked Stanford to a 78-63 victory over Santa Clara in the championship game of the Cable Car Classic.
The Cardinal (10-0) captured their sixth straight regular-season tournament title over the last three seasons.
They also defeated Santa Clara, 69-60, in the final of this event during the 1997-98.
Jacobsen nailed four of Stanford's nine 3-pointers as the Cardinal shot 47 percent (25-of-53) from the field. They also had a 43-32 rebounding advantage.
Jamie Holmes scored 15 points and pulled down six rebounds but was the only player in double figures for Santa Clara (6-7). Brian Jones added nine points for Santa Clara, which shot 32 percent (21-of-65), going 7-of-26 from beyond the arc.
The Cardinal led 44-30 at halftime. They coasted to their 11th consecutive win and fourth straight road victory over Santa Clara.
