Portland 103, Utah 102

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 28 -- Damon Stoudamire helped Portland overcome a pair of 13-point deficits by scoring 13 points in the final 15 minutes and hitting the game-winner with less than a second left Thursday night, rallying the Trail Blazers to a 103-102 overtime victory over the Utah Jazz.

Having knocked the Jazz out of the Western Conference playoffs in each of the previous two seasons, Portland pulled out its fourth straight regular season win against Utah with Stoudamire scoring 32 points.

Stoudamire hit a three-pointer and a 21-footer in overtime to give the Blazers what appeared to be a safe 101-96 lead with 2:08 to play.

But Danny Manning and Bryon Russell combined to hit three free throws and John Stockton finally got some revenge on Stoudamire, inducing the speedy point guard into a foul while hitting a layup that forged a 101-101 tie with 4.8 seconds remaining.

Stockton sank the ensuing free throw and the Jazz appeared on the verge of ending their uncharacteristic three-game home losing streak as well as sending the Blazers a message.

Stoudamire rushed the ball down and nearly lost possession, watching the ball bound off the leg of Utah's Karl Malone before recovering it and hitting a nine-footer with four-tenths of a second left to give Portland the win.
