Lalime earns weekly NHL honor

NEW YORK, Dec. 4 -- Ottawa Senators goaltender Patrick Lalime, who led his team to three straight wins, Monday was named NHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday. Dec. 3.

Lalime led the Senators to a 3-0 record with a 1.33 goals-against average and .953 save percentage.

On Tuesday, Lalime opened the week by making 22 saves in a 3-1 victory over Buffalo. On Saturday, he made 32 saves in a 5-3 victory over Philadelphia and he concluded the week Sunday by stopping 28 shots in a 2-0 shutout of Carolina.

Playing in his third NHL season, the 26-year-old Lalime has posted a 9-4-1 record with a 1.78 GAA and .934 save percentage in 14 games.

Also considered for the award were Mats Sundin of Toronto, Colorado's Joe Sakic and goaltenders John Vanbiesbrouck of the New York Islanders, Jose Theodore of Montreal and Olaf Kolzig of Washington.
