TEL AVIV, Israel, Nov. 21 -- Palestinian sources said at least three Palestinians were killed in Tuesday's clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Israeli military sources reported that a Palestinian sniper shot and killed an Israeli teenager traveling in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli, Itamar Yefet, 18, had been sitting beside a driver that had been following a bus when a single bullet hit his head.

The Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the fire had come from, "a Palestinian position in an area under Palestinian control, towards the convoy in which the civilian was traveling." An eyewitness told Israel Radio he saw the car suddenly dash forward to a military roadblock and understood someone had been hit.

A helicopter rushed Yefet to a hospital in Beersheba but doctors failed to save him.

Israeli soldiers returned fire and Palestinian sources said a 28-year-old Palestinian was killed in a clash in that area.

The Palestinian's death sparked clashes in the neighboring town of Deir El Balah where dozens of people stoned Israeli soldiers who responded with live ammunition, according to Palestinian accounts.

In other incidents, Palestinians injured two Israeli civilians near Bethlehem and opened fire in several places in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the IDF spokesman reported.

In one of those incidents a Palestinian policeman fired at an IDF position near Gush Katif in the Gaza Strip, at the District Coordination Office in that area, and at a military patrol. The soldiers returned fire, the army spokesman reported.

The spokesman said Molotov cocktails and stones were hurled in at least 14 places and that soldiers responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and "accurate fire towards rioters."

Two of the clashes occurred at Tul Karem and Jenin, in the West Bank, the army spokesman said. The Voice of Palestine said two people were killed there. The person killed in Tul Karem was 16-years-old and was hit in the neck by a bullet, the Palestinian radio reported.
