LOS ANGELES -- It's hard to feel sorry for yourself when you're watching a Jackie Chan movie.
It's all so ... made up. Jackie Chan hurling himself through the air, jumping from car to car, diving from windows.
So it seems that a video game starring Jackie Chan should be just as much fun. And so it is.
Milpitas, Calif.-based Midway Home Entertainment Inc., says the Jackie Chan Stuntmaster for the PlayStation game console is now available.
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster features the signature moves, voice and humor of the incredibly popular action-adventure fighting hero, Jackie Chan. Including authentic Chan motion and voice capture, 3D animated likenessand unique personality, Jackie Chan Stuntmaster is the first PlayStation title to feature the box-office favorite comic-fighting hero.
"There is only one Jackie Chan," said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing, Midway Games. "Jackie Chan Stuntmaster is incredibly fun to play because it combines humor with high-impact action. This game will excite both video game enthusiasts and Jackie Chan film fans."
The release of the game is being supported with a nationwide Jackie Chan Stuntmaster sweepstakes, where players can enter via in-package game pieces or write-in entries. The winner and a guest will be treated to an opportunity to spend an evening with Chan. The evening will include dinner, watching a classic Jackie Chan movie and playing Jackie Chan Stuntmaster. Runner-ups will win an autographed pair of official Jackie Chan athletic shoes.
Additionally, Midway has teamed up with select on-line retailers to offer a hand-painted, limited edition Jackie Chan pewter figurine as a pre-sell gift with purchase.
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster focuses on both Chan's martial arts expertise and his agility as a stunt man. With a fighting system based on his fighting style, specialized moves have been incorporated to allow players to use Chan's fighting props such as a broom, pool cue, plunger and even a fish. At the conclusion of the game, players are treated to a "making of" video, which showcases footage of Chan at his motion-capture session.
Jackie Chan Stuntmaster comes with a suggested retail price of $29.95.
Midway Games Inc. is a designer, publisher and marketer of interactive entertainment software for both the coin-operated arcade and home markets.
Midway's games are available for play on all major dedicated home video game platforms, including Sega, Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment America and personal computers.
