Chris Pronger intercepted Adam Oates' pass in the neutral zone and sent Turgeon on a breakaway.

Turgeon has his wrist shot stopped by goaltender Olaf Kolzig, but put home the rebound 6:36 into the second period for his 16th goal of the season.

Turgeon has six goals and 16 assists during his hot streak. His career high is an 18-game run with the New York Islanders in 1992.

Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr owns the season's longest points streak at 15 games from Oct. 1-Nov. 13.

After Turgeon's tally, Ulf Dahlen tied it for Washington 51 seconds later. Jeff Toms found Dahlen with a backhand pass just outside the crease and he poked it past goalie Roman Turek for his fourth goal of the season.

Playing in just his 12th game of the season, Toms notched his first point since April 1.

Turek stopped six shots in the extra session, including Peter Bondra's wraparound with 30 seconds left and rookie Jeff Halpern's slap shot 20 seconds later.
