Timberwolves place Peeler on IL

MINNEAPOLIS, March 16 -- The Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday placed starting shooting guard Anthony Peeler on the injured list with a strained left calf. Peeler, the team's fourth-leading scorer at 9.6 points per game, played just seven minutes in Monday's 90-83 loss to Utah before suffering the injury.

The 6-4 Peeler must sit out five games and is eligible to be activated March 26 against Miami. Minnesota activated 7- foot rookie center Trevor Winter to take his place on the roster. The Timberwolves already were without swingman Malik Sealy, who was placed on the injured list Friday with an ankle injury. Starting point guard Terrell Brandon and reserve Bobby Jackson are their only other reliable guards. Jackson, 6-1, likely will take Peeler's place in the starting lineup. He totaled 17 points in 28 minutes Monday while Brandon scored 21 in just his
