Timberwolves 98, SuperSonics 90

MINNEAPOLIS, April 28 -- Kevin Garnett scored 19 points and combined with Stephon Marbury to lead a stunning fourth-quarter turnaround Tuesday as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Seattle SuperSonics, 98-90, in Game Three of their Western Conference first- round series. Anthony Peeler and Sam Mitchell each had playoff career highs with 20 and 19 points, respectively, for the Wolves, who used clutch 3-point shooting and a pair of fourth-quarter spurts to move within one win of the first series victory in the franchise's history.

Minnesota can wrap up the best-of-five series at home on Thursday. Gary Payton scored 26 points and Vin Baker had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Seattle, but could not prevent the Sonics from falling into a 2-1 deficit against the seventh-seeded team for the second straight year. Last season, they needed to win the final two games to get by Phoenix.
