Webb heads to Magic

MIAMI, Feb. 22 -- The Orlando Magic Sunday signed 34-year-old point guard Spud Webb to a 10-day contract. The one-time NBA slam dunk champion joins a team hurt by injuries to all of its point guards -- Penny Hardaway, Mark Price and Darrell Armstrong.

Both Price and Armstrong are on the injured list while Hardaway is currently sidelined with a strained left calf muscle. Webb is making his first appearance in the NBA since the end of the 1995-96 season. He has averaged 10 points and 5.4 assists per game during his NBA career, which includes stays with the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings. To make room on the roster, the club waived center Yinka Dare. Dare was just acquired by the Magic last week in a five-player trade that sent Rony Seikaly to the Nets.
