UPI Focus: Pals: Cunanan was obsessed with S&M sex

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 -- Friends of Andrew Cunanan say the accused spree-killer was obsessed with hard-core sado-masochism and frequently went on wild drug and sex binges. According to the September issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the man suspected of killing fashion designer Gianni Versace, a New Jersey cemetery worker and three others, had a particular taste for whips, shackles and bondage videos.

Erik Greenman added that Cunanan 'was more the tying-up and whips type -- just the degradation not the asphyxiation.' Doug Stubblefield, another Cunanan pal, told the magazine that Cunanan had a sexually sadistic relationship with David Madson, the second man Cunanan is believed to have killed. Police and experts say that might explain why Madson didn't flee after Cunanan allegedly killed his friend Jeffrey Trail. The magazine said the murder of Cunanan's third supposed victim, millionaire real estate developer Lee Miglin, bore traces of S&M ritual. Miglin's face was bound with tape with airholes over the nostrils, a restraint that resembled latex face masks that Cunanan's friends say he liked to use. ---
