ABC-TV announcer Ernie Anderson dies

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 7 -- Ernie Anderson has died. His deeper-than- deep voice and self-mocking delivery made him America's most imitated announcer during years of voice work on the ABC Television Network.

ABC confirmed this morning (Friday) that Anderson was 73 when he died of cancer Thursday. Anderson had also recently suffered a stroke. Ernie Anderson was the announcer on dozens of ABC programs, including 'America's Funniest Home Videos' and 'The Love Boat,' and the miniseries 'Roots' and 'The Winds of War.' He also co-starred in a the 1976 satirical film 'Tunnelvision,' playing an on-camera TV anchorman. ---
