Rockets' Drexler re-injures hamstring

HOUSTON, Feb. 5 -- Houston Rockets guard Clyde Drexler, who was selected to Sunday's All-Star game as a reserve, re-injured his right hamstring in Tuesday night's 99-95 loss to the New York Knicks and could be out as long as two months. Drexler, who is averaging 18.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists, is likely out at least two weeks after aggravating the same injury that has caused him to miss two games last week.

Drexler returned Sunday in Orlando, playing for the first time since suffering the injury in an overtime loss to the Utah Jazz on Jan. 25. The 34-year-old Drexler, who was chosen to the All-Star Game for the 10th time, aggravated the injury during the fourth quarter. He had 16 points, but turned the ball over eight times in 35 minutes. Drexler would be the second Rocket to withdraw from the All-Star game, joining forward Charles Barkley, who has missed the last four games and eight of his last nine with a sprained right ankle. Teammate Hakeem Olajuwon is the Western Conference's starting center. The Rockets have lost five straight games, falling one-half game behind the Utah Jazz in the Midwest Division.
