LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 -- The 28-year-old son of TV star Bill Cosby was shot to death early Thursday in the Bel-Air area of Los Angeles while changing a flat tire on his car. Cmdr. Tim McBride of the Los Angeles Police Department says the motive is unclear.
Detectives were interviewing the woman who found Ennis Cosby's body in hopes of learning more about a white gunman. McBride said Bill Cosby was notified by telephone on the New York set of his CBS television series, 'Cosby.' McBride said, 'Mr. Cosby and Mrs. Cosby are extremely upset, they're in significant grief. They've asked us to go forward with finding a suspect and we intend to do that.' The victim was driving from his home in West Los Angeles to visit a friend in the San Fernando Valley when his green Mercedes convertible had a flat tire on the San Diego Freeway. Cosby got off at Skirball Center Drive and apparently was shot while he was changing the tire. McBride said it was unclear whether he was followed or robbed. Cosby and his wife, Camille, said in a statement, 'We have every confidence in the LAPD. Our hearts go out to each and every family to whom such an incident occurs.' McBride said Bill Cosby is expected to return soon to Los Angeles. ---
