KANSAS CITY, June 7 -- The Royals shuffled their roster before opening a 10-game homestand Friday against the Seattle Mariners. The Royals placed outfielders Michael Tucker and Les Norman on the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Jon Nunnally and infielder Kevin Young from AAA Omaha of the American Association.
Tucker, who has been bothered by a sprained right wrist, was placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 4. He was hitting .201 in 54 games with a team-leading six home runs and 27 RBI. Norman, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 6, suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder when he crashed into the outfield wall in the first inning of Wednesday's game in Oakland. He was hitting just .129 in 35 games. Nunnally, who started the season with Kansas City, was hitting .282 in 35 games with seven home runs and 23 RBI at Omaha. He was 1-for-3 with two RBI in five games for the Royals before being optioned to Omaha on April 12. Young was hitting .306 in 50 games with 13 home runs and 46 RBI at Omaha. The Royals also transferred pitcher Jim Converse from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Converse has missed the entire season due to a right shoulder strain.
