CHICAGO, March 4 -- The Chicago Bulls signed veteran forward John Salley to a 10-day contract Monday and placed center Bill Wennington on the injured list with a swollen ankle. The 31-year-old Salley was a member of the Detroit Pistons' back-to- back championship teams in 1989 and 1990.
After playing six years for the Pistons, Salley was traded to the Miami Heat in September 1992 and spent three years with the Heat. The 6-11, 255-pound Salley was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 expansion draft and averaged 6.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 25 games. He was recently released by Toronto and joins James Edwards and Dennis Rodman as former members of the Pistons' championship teams on the Bulls. Wennington is averaging 5.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 55 games with Chicago. He is in his ninth NBA season and third with the Bulls.
