Lehtinen NHL Rookie of Month

NEW YORK, March 1 -- Dallas Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen Friday was named the National Hockey League's Rookie of the Month for February.

Lehtinen led all rookie scorers with 16 points (4 goals, 12 assists) in 13 games and also led all first-year players with a plus-8 rating. The 22-year-old native of Finland had his first two-goal game in a 5-3 loss to Hartford on Feb. 11 and followed with a four-assist game against Edmonton on Feb. 16. Lehtinen edged New York Islanders left wing Niklas Andersson and Florida Panthers defenseman Ed Jovanovski for the award.
