Hornets' Burrell out with shoulder injury

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 3 -- Charlotte Hornets forward Scott Burrell will be sidelined for at least three weeks with a dislocated right shoulder. Burrell suffered the injury during Saturday's 102-100 overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons.

A collision with Detroit's Grant Hill caused Burrell's right shoulder to pop out and back into its socket. Charlotte team physician Glenn Perry said Burrell's shoulder will have to be immobilized for three weeks and then re-evaluated. Burrell missed the first 10 games of the season to recuperate from surgery last April for a partially torn right Achilles tendon. He played his first game of the season Nov. 22 against Boston. The 6-7, 218-pound Burrell is averaging 13.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20 games for the Hornets this season. He averaged 11.5 points and 5.7 rebounds in 65 games last year.
