Oman condemns Rabin's assassination

MUSCAT, Nov. 6 -- The government of the Gulf sultanate of Oman Monday condemned the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and said it hoped for the continuation of the Arab-Israeli peace process.

Oman sent its foreign minister, Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, to Rabin's funeral in Jerusalem. An official statement expressed regret at the assassination of Rabin and extended condolences to the bereaved family and the Israeli people. The foreign minister, who attended the ceremonies in Jerusalem, said he was confident that the peace process was unstoppable and would not be affected by the passing of the Israeli leader.
