Clippers deal Spencer for Brian Williams

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19 -- The Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday traded center Elmore Spencer to the Denver Nuggets for fellow pivotman Brian Williams.

The 6-foot-11 Williams, the 10th overall pick in the 1991 NBA draft after starring at Arizona, averaged 7.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 20.0 minutes in 63 games last season. Williams attended high school in Los Angeles. Spencer, a seven-foot, 270-pounder who played at Nevada-Las Vegas, averaged 6.9 points and pulled down 65 rebounds in 19 games for the Clippers last season.
