Mavs sign McCloud for rest of season

DALLAS, Feb. 22 -- The Dallas Mavericks signed forward-guard George McCloud Wednesday to a contract for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year-old McCloud has been with the Mavericks since he signed the first of two 10-day contracts on Jan. 30. He has averaged 8.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in his nine games, including a 22-point performance against Utah on Feb. 4. McCloud was the seventh overall pick in the 1989 draft by Indiana and spent four seasons with the Pacers. He played 32 games with Rapid City of the Continental Basketball Association this season before signing with the Mavericks.
