Cavs guard Mark Price out 6-8 weeks with broken wrist

CLEVELAND, Ohio, Jan. 24 -- Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Mark Price will miss 6-to-8 weeks with a broken right wrist, becoming the team's third starter this season to be sidelined for a significant period. Price underwent a bone scan and an MRI Monday which revealed a broken navicular bone in his right wrist.

He suffered the injury in a 103-97 victory at Golden State Jan. 14 and missed the last four games of a six- game road trip, which ended Saturday. Price did not play Monday in a 90-68 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. He will have surgery Wednesday at The Cleveland Clinic and will be out of action at least until March, which prevents him from defending his long distance shooting title at All-Star Weekend in Phoenix in mid-February. The 30-year-old Price, who has missed nine games this season with a variety of ailments, was averaging team highs of 16.2 points and 7.2 assists for the Cavaliers. He has made the All-Star team in each of the last three seasons. The Cavaliers are first in the Central Division with a 25-14 record despite playing the entire season without two starters. Center Brad Daugherty underwent back surgery and guard Gerald Wilkins suffered a torn Achilles tendon in a preseason game.
